My Why? The Shoals is home to us. We love it here. Our families are here. And our goal is to serve the same community that has done so much for our family over the years. Put simply but genuinely, we are here to help, because we care.

My wife Beverly and I met in college at UNA where we both earned degrees and I played college football, earning 2 letters. We've raised two awesome kids, Jake and Stella Beth. The bulk of my professional career has been in a college press box behind a microphone or in front of a camera. I also devoted over a decade, covering local Shoals news for WAFF Channel 48. I saw so much sadness and loss during my 12 years as a television journalist. Those tragedies have left indelible marks that have served as constant reminders why insurance is so important.

Since then, we have made hundreds of great friends over our decades in Alabama. Our entire team at the JD Byars State Farm Agency is committed to the same mission which is putting the customer first. Why? Because we want to be your Good Neighbor and be there when you need us most.
